Sushi Masato is a renowned sushi restaurant in Bangkok, founded by Chef Masato Shimizu, who gained recognition as the youngest chef in New York City to earn a Michelin star during his tenure at Jewel Bako. MUST TRY. It was my first time experiencing omakase (and also Michelin omakase one). They imported straight from Japan five days a week. So fresh in every bite. I have to say that this is the best. Every dishes got me so excited and felt like I could still keep going with more dishes. Superb!

This was the first time I had omakase sushi, so I don't have much to compare with. However, as someone who loves sushi and japanese food, I thought the ingredients were really fresh and well put-together. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. We visited during a promotional period, so the prices were quite good at around 4,000THB per person.

Thank you, Chef Kanno, for the unforgettable moments, great vibes, and for sharing your incredible techniques with us at Sushi Masato.I truly appreciate your smoking technique for fish and absolutely love the Russian abalone and Pione grape in red beverage. We have such wonderful memories at your restaurant and promise to return soon.

Must try. We had our meal upstairs. Not my first Michelin omakase experience so I have another point of reference and I can say that this was excellent, probably best sushi I've ever had (I've not been to Japan yet though) Great selection of fish/seafood. Amazing service. At one point I had an octopus on a skewer and i mistakenly thought it was a scallop. That's how well it was prepared... I thought an octopus was a scallop!

We couldn't find any free spots for the omakase experience so we tried a la carte. I was impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the simplicity of the dishes. Everything was so delicate and full of flavor. The mochi dessert (or monaka?) was so good that we ordered twice.

Delicious and fast (as expected) omakase experience. We actually walked in without a reservation and were able to be accommodated on their third floor with the a la carte menu. We did their a la carte omakase for dinner (same fish used for this set and the bar seating) and thought the fish was fresh and well prepared. The cherry mocktail was surprisingly scrumptious and we loved the monkfish liver wrapped in squid (Chef’s signature). Also really enjoyed the nigiri with 20 tiny shrimps! Great value relative to other Michelin omakase restaurants we’ve been to!!

really loved the food and experience at sushi masato! every dish we ordered were mind blowing and we can't help but want to try everything (if only our bellies allow). definitely will be back to try the omakase!

Loved everything. We got a private round for dinner with the amazing chef masato himself 🍣 all ingredients were shipped in from Japan earlier in the day so everything was so fresh! One of the very few omakase restaurants that the chef really made sure we got a smile on our faces when we left! Could still remember the chef made sure that everyone had a mount-full uni that literally fell off on the side! The chef really wanted us to enjoy the food! Amazing value for money, would love to come back 🫶🏻

One of the best roll in Bangkok - Manao Roll!! Must try! Good michelin with nice ingredient. Top class service. Have parking! Great variety of umeshu and sake! The ambience is perfect for Japanese restaurant. They have options between omakase or a la carte! Worth trying.Deduct one star because their unagi don seems weird since they added orange in the don which i have never tried before. The rest was perfect

Awesome food, service and staffs. We've omakase dinner there and truly an enjoyable one. Chef is good too. Please book one month in advance to avoid disappointment.

It’s located in a gangway. I personally amazed, this place eventhough difficult to reach but apparently very crowded. If you decide to visit this place, please make sure you make a reservation before coming. The foods themselves are fresh, good, and made nicely. If you are a Japanese food enthusiast, you might want to try foods here.

Dear friends! If you are a Japan fan and love sushi , you MUST go ! We just recently came back from Japan and fell in love with country. Sushi MASATO took us back to Ginza district ❤️ but better, everyone speaks English here 😆 so, it was easy and safe to choose what we wanted. The staff was absolutely well prepared. The service we received was one of the most high level we had ever had in Bangkok . Bravo to the shef ! The presentation and quality of food left us happy. The only one downsize I would say was the wine list for me. It should be revised a bit with the selection the have🤔 Don’t wait long to go and experience it , but please remember, it’s CLASSIC Japanese cousin not Zuma 🤣

We had the 18 course Omakasa with Chef Kurokawa. Food, service and atmosphere was impeccable. Every course was fresh, interesting and a experience in itself. Ingredients and some cooking techniques were explained, as much as you could to a layperson. If raw fish isn't for you, I'd pass this up, even though about 9 courses were cooked.

An excellent Omakase restaurant in Bangkok. It's quite difficult to book, but a good meal is the answer to the difficulty of booking that table. All processed ingredients are seasonal, very fresh. The service staff here are also very considerate.

Another great omakase spot for flavourful, delicious dishes by Japanese chefs in Bangkok. It requires booking way in advance but it is absolutely worth the effort and price.

Worth the star, one of the must!! Omakase in town. Friendly Chef Masato, you can tell by looking on how passionate he is in what he's doing. Fresh and highest quality ingredients straight from Japan market landed in Bangkok within 12 hours. Fabulous service and kind staffs. Each dish cook perfectly, ingredients precisely selected from the best in its season. Highly recommended!!!And the 1m THB Hinoki wood bar make food a lot more enjoyable 😆

A smart choice for birthday celebration.*** See all photos and you will see our birthday surprise from Chef Kanno ❤️***An omakase restaurant providing great service in homey atmosphere. We selected premium course but the only earliest available seat is only at 5pm on Thursday evening given that we made reservation almost 3 weeks in advance. Worth the wait. The fish is so fresh that the fish is not fishy at all. Most of the fishes just arrived in the morning and are served in the evening. My most impressive bite is fresh uni sashimi. It is directly from Hokkaido with Hokkaido sea water! See each bite in the photos. You know you worth the premium course rather than the standard one.Chef Kanno is very nice. He really entertains customers and gives details if every food he serves with the fish encyclopedia, photo charts, and all. Quite scientific though 😅. But it’s good that I can take note for you guys here!Parking is available at RSU tower. Don’t forget to get the stamp from the restro. We forgot so we paid almost 200B 😢😅😓

Food is great but the services and the atmosphere is even better. The chef is funny and professional. I will definitely come again.

Wonderful dinner tonight by Chef Kano-san.Everything was above average - the stars of the night were ankimo (monk fish liver) and uni from Hokkaido.Chef was friendly and warm, properly explained the details and context of the dishes; excellent customer experience.Highly recommend, and I’d like to come back here myself

Top quality ingredients all from Japan and such great serviceWas on 3L and the air con broke down - everyone was so sorry about it and gave free complimentary mocktail and iced tea as well as discount for the final food bill, which was really a nice gestureThe food itself was really the best Japanese I have ever had outside Japan. I had the premium and the two kinds of uni I tasted was out of this world

Quanzhi G — Google review

Chef Masato made me feel right at home, serving the premium omakase comprised of 7 appetizers, 12 nigiri, miso soup, and 2 desserts. Appetizers were delicious. Some of my favorite items were nodoguru cooked with binchō-tan charcoal directly on the grill in front of you, hotaru ika on a stick (feels a little like Bangkok street food, but using Japanese ingredients), sumiika stuffed with ankimo, abalone served with a sauce made from its own organs, kuruma-ebi flash poached immediately before service and served still warm. Masato himself is garrulous and engages with every customer, making them feel like a VIP in his restaurant, which I believe to be the best omakase place in Bangkok.

Sushi Masato is the only sushi restaurant in Bangkok with a Michelin star ! If you are here for the Omakase experience (no menu to look at), I think it won’t be that easy to find a spot, for my booking time we were only six people who got the pleasure to try the lovely food from chef Masato on first floor who was very welcoming, informative and fun to interact with.Details are provided about every dish and sushi served as they would show you a photo of the fish and the area in Japan it came from. The UNI served was so fresh that it came from Japan the same morning. The rest of sushi selection was so amazing. The otoro also was another very special piece I enjoyed so much.

Booked 1 month in advance for this highly recommended Omakase in Bangkok. It lived up to its near prefect reviews. Ingredients were fresh. Each dish was well thought out.Memorable dishes included their monkfish liver in squid, tiger prawn and uni. Oishi!Service was impeccable too. The servers were attentive to your needs.Would visit again if I come back to Bangkok.

Michelin 1 star restaurant. Dishes are pretty good but no comparison to Japan. The restaurant is located in a small street and the ambience is quite cosy. Sushi counters are on 1st and 3rd floor. 3rd floor also offered a-la carte table settings which I was seated.Nothing particularly stood out and no surprises. The Ankimo tempura is quite good. Sake selections are good and priced reasonable. Can try

My rather unconventional sushi lunch here was great. Masato san was very friendly and hospitable to all the guests. I also really liked that he was elaborative when it came to the food and its source, which showed that he cares about quality. His technique is good, and the dishes reflected that. The sashimi starter of akami and akagai had a nice contrast of textures. Akagai was fresh and crunchy, while the akami (zuke) was nice and soft. The octopus (kanagawa) and ankimo-stuffed yari squid starters were spectacular. The octopus was incredibly tender and naturally really sweet, almost comparable to hotate (in the words of the chef, they do 30mins of thai massage for the octopus to make it really tender lol). The ankimo-stuffed yari ika was creamy on the inside while the squid was really tender without much chew. Amadai was crispy and relatively moist. Sumi ika, aji, and kinmedai were well prepared. Nodoguro was fatty and very sizeable. Toro was well marbled without any sinew. Uni was of decent quality without being overly briny. Anago was a large piece but wasn't as buttery as I had hoped. Tamagoyaki was on the spongier side. Temperature control for shari was good. The shari consists of 2 different types of komezu as well as akazu for a bolder vinegar aroma without the flavour being too overpowering. It was shaped loose but held its shape. Well done. With that said, the reason the sushi course was rather unconventional was firstly because the starters stole the limelight, and secondly while the nigiris were pretty good, I felt like the course could do with a few more pieces, so in that regard, it was a little bit of a bummer. All in all, it was a very good lunch, and they certainly deserve their star. But to rank it as a sushiya? I'm not too sure. But that's not too important to me as long as the food is good.

Why is this not two Michelin star yet? We visit Masato-San since his opening in 2015. The most consistent restaurants, yet only one star.Best omakase in Thailand without doubt. Lunch is easier to book than dinner. Premium course will most likely be the addition of abalone. Standard course is excellent and best value.Order Manao rolls or manao-don as extra and you won’t be disappointed. Never had a bad bite here.

Sushi Masato is a fantastic choice for sushi in Bangkok. The sushi here boasts an excellent balance of toppings and rice, with the shari being particularly commendable. The menu offers a variety of high-quality sake, highly recommended for a perfect pairing with the sushi. A delightful experience for sushi enthusiasts!

This is the best omakase experience I had. Even more so than the ones I had in japan. The chef is so friendly and go through the ingredients with us as the food was service. Food was superb quality. I enjoyed every second of it and I would certainly go back again when I return to bangkok.Returning to UK, Im looking at the photo every day to remind me of the good food.

Had a great time at sushi masato with my family! we were super lucky to score seats via wait list! Chef Masato and his crew were fantastic. Chef Masato engaged us in conversation and patiently introduced each dish to each diner. His crew also paid close attention to our needs (topping up our tea, changing plates, changing towels throughout the entire meal). Food quality was top-notch, for the price point and service, totally worth it! We left the place feeling happy both in the heart and belly. Thank you, Chef and team, for the excellent meal experience. PS. the oyster was really out of the world!

Sushi Masato in Bangkok claimed its prestigious spot as the 29th entry on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, a remarkable feat that stirs curiosity and admiration. Already adorned with a Michelin star, Masato's surpassing of its Japanese counterparts speaks volumes about its unique allure and excellence.Originating from Japan and finding successive triumphs in New York, Masato-san, along with his wife, established their foothold in Bangkok, pioneering the Omakase experience in the city. The restaurant exudes a traditional ambiance, where conversations flow in a mix of English and Japanese. Masato-san's genuine exclamation of "おいしい~" (delicious) as he introduces the day's catch, confidently reflects the essence of his culinary art. Amidst the relentless heat of Bangkok's streets, each sushi piece offers a refreshing burst of cool, sour, and savory notes, providing an immediate sense of relief and pleasure.True to the Omakase tradition, a standout creation features squid embedded with monkfish liver, a bold statement of confidence. The rich taste harmoniously blends with the subtle oceanic freshness of the cephalopod, creating a layered sensory experience that leaves a lasting impression. While imported ingredients from Japan might not fully replicate the homeland's advantage, their quality and the distinctive zest of Sushi Masato's offerings are indeed commendable in Bangkok.📍Bangkok, ThailandOmakase / THB 4,000The curated menu includes:- Ark shell and Striped Jack- Squid with monkfish liver- Tempura of bamboo shootNigiri:- Gizzard shad- Cherry salmon- Sardine- Redthroat- Medium fatty tuna- Lean tuna- Firefly squid- Prawn- Sea urchin gunkan maki- EelAccompanied by miso soup and tamagoyaki, each dish at Sushi Masato is a testament to the meticulous care and creativity that defines the Omakase experience.

Despite it being my third visit, my experience at Sushi Masato was nothing short of transcendent. The combination of exceptional ingredients, masterful execution, and a warm, inviting ambiance created a dining experience that was both memorable and inspiring. Sushi Masato is a testament to the artistry and dedication of Chef Masato Shimizu, and it undoubtedly ranks among Bangkok's premier dining destinations. For aficionados of Japanese cuisine, a visit to Sushi Masato is an absolute must, promising an unforgettable journey through the world of sushi.

Still one of the best omakase experiences in Bangkok, Thailand. The signature ankimo is to die for. Chef Masato’s technique in preparing multiple dishes elevate the ingredients, and compliments the fish in the best way possible. Definitely will visit again
